Update on Onor's Situation
Onor's situation has deteriorated substantially in the past week. A few more centimetres of his bone is visible and the infection below it has gotten worse. A surgeon from MSF (Medecins Sans Frontieres) saw Onor and said he had never seen anything like it in his life. Time and options seem to have almost run out.
What initially seemed like a badly infected compound fracture, is actually an infection that started years ago and eventually broke the bone and pushed it out of Onor's skin a few weeks ago.
MSF is unable to treat Onor, they lack the resources and manpower - his condition is simply too bad. Dr. Edson, a Brazilian doctor, also saw Onor and said that the surgery will be more expensive and much more complicated than originally thought. Even in the States, the operation would be a major undertaking and the results uncertain. He would be in the hospital for weeks.
