fine sick-day TV

I've talked before about sick-day TV -- you know, the stuff you watch when you're stuck on the couch with a box of tissues and a puke bucket by your side. Too much information? Sorry.

This afternoon, I wasn't the sick one at my house, but I caught another great sick-day show: "Judging Amy," which is in perpetual reruns on TNT. With its feel-good homey vibe and its careful politics, it passes the time and just makes you feel better. Plus, it's usually on twice every weekday, so you can knock off a good chunk of a season in just a few sick days.

And sometimes, like today, there are good guest stars -- today's was Marlee Matlin, playing a social worker. I was happy to see some sign language on TV again, and I was also pleased to see they'd cast the same interpreter for "Amy" as on Matlin's early-'90s crime drama, "Reasonable Doubts."
