Halfway through my morning chores, I noticed I had a song in my head. Because I tend to be slightly obsessive, that happens to me a lot. I hear a song in a movie or on TV or through the window of a car in the lane next to me, and suddenly that song is in my head.
"Oh no, this song is going to be in my head for the rest of my natural life" has actually become a catch phrase for me.
Usually the song is one I've just heard or, maybe, one I heard earlier in the day. But sometimes, like today, it's a song I haven't heard for a few days that, though it didn't get in my head at the time I heard it, shows up and parks its muddy feet on the sofa.
Today it was the theme song from "The Flintstones," courtesy of Thursday night's "Office," complete with Steve Carell's thundering "Willlllmaaaaa!" at the end.
And it will be in my head for the rest of my natural life. Or until another song displaces it.
