I have been anxiously awaiting Rufus Wainwright's new album, "Release the Stars," due out May 15. I'd downloaded "Going to a Town," the first single, and loved it; now I just have to wait for the rest. At least it's less than two weeks now.
So it was a nice surprise to see that Logo, the GLBTQ channel, was running a half-hour special on the making of the "Going to a Town" video. I'm not sure any video can top the one he made for "April Fools" all those years ago -- running around the city with six opera heroines, then watching each of them die the way they do in their respective operas, is priceless -- and while the new one is a little over-the-top for me, I'm still in love with the lushness of Wainwright's visual aesthetic and his musical genius. It was great to see some new video of my favorite recording artist.
Now if only I could get to one of his upcoming concerts ...
