Early October 2007: The Fire Swirl

The day started by moving the Day Lilies that were scooped up in June and deposited near the woods to their new home.

Others were used to create a new bed along the west border of the yard. This will meet up with the Day Lilies that are in the Reeds and ones that are up toward the road. That will be a Spring task.

As I was moving the Day Lilies I was thinking about the fire pit that we were planning to build in this area near the woods. I had started to dig, thinking about all the rocks from the ill-fated wall. Wait a minute! "Joey!" I have an idea!

And the Fire Swirl was born.

As you can see there is still a lot of sod work to do on the terrace berms. But, close enough, it's time for a party! The invitations have been sent...

Joey did much of the designing and choosing of appropiate rocks.

It is deeper than it looks.

Late September 2007: The east edge

Well I am not a stone mason. So I decided to not build a wall on this edge but instead let the edge just gently curve around like the other edges.

All the rocks that were going to be the wall are now available for something else.

Much better than a wall. It feels so pleasant.
